What are your thoughts on the proposed charter?
I am voting yes when I go the polls for the Charter. Staggered Elections,Three Year Terms and Most Important Reason is the Fiscal Oversight the Passage of the Charter will Provide. Something the Town Needed when the Kasabuski Rink and the Town Employees Medical Trust Fund may have Benefited from before Over One Million Dollars Vanished from Both.
Do you have any ideas about how to reduce expenses?
Due to a 1.7 Million dollar cut in state aid from the Commonwealth our expenses have been reduced to levels unheard of in the past. What we need to look at is revenue and how to increase it, we must get creative and the only way to accomplish this is to work together. as opposed to against each other.
What do you think will be the biggest challenge facing the Town of Saugus in the next two years?
Remaining financially stable during these most turbulent economic times will be our biggest challenge. We need long rang financial planning. We also need a board of Selectmen who will put the people first in the next two years.
What else do you think is important?
Long range planning initiatives, which could position us to be more financially stable, or even increase our residential and business property values, attract new businesses and jobs to town, and strengthen our schools.
