Here's an assortment of pictures taken during the 2006 Trails And Sails event Works In Progress at the Saugus Iron Works. It was led by Ranger Curtis White.
Although it was held on both Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th, these pictures were all taken during the Sunday presentation. Works In Progress focused on the renovation work being done in the Iron Works now. In fact, it represented the last tours given prior to the Iron Works being shut down completely during construction. It will reopen in the spring.
The Walk Around Historic Saugus Center was presented by the Saugus Historical Society. It was led by their president, Darren Brown, and held on Sunday, September 24th.
Unfortunately (probably because of the constant threat of rain), no one actually attended so it didn't really happen. It was slated to feature a close-up view of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, the Frist Parish Cemetery (also known as the Revolutionary War Burial Ground), and of course the Saugus Town Hall.
It's still possible to enjoy this walk as a self-guided tour; the Society has free pamphlets available describing the key points of interest.
