Established in 1974, Navy Band Northeast is based on board NAVSTA Newport and is one of 13 official U.S. Navy bands worldwide. Under the direction of Lieutenant Commander Carl Gerhard, this group of professional Navy musicians supports engagements throughout an 11-state area of responsibility in the Northeast United States.
The Northeast Navy Showband popular music group is one of the ensembles performing regularly for public outreach and community relations efforts. These patriotic concerts range from the traditional to the contemporary, showcasing the skill and versatility of the band. Listeners should expect a wide range of music from classical, contemporary, big band swing, country, and the latest top-40 hits.
The FREE concert is open to all. Audiences across the country support and appreciate all of the precision and energy in performances that befit the stature of the Navy Band. These entertaining shows also allow for the recognition of active and retired members of the United States Armed Services.
The event takes place on the lawn of the handicapped accessible Christopher P. Dunne Memorial Visitor Center of DCR Breakheart Reservation, located at 177 Forest Street in Saugus MA near US Route 1.
