An informal meeting to discuss the ?State of our Schools? is being held on Monday night, July 10th at 7pm in the school administration building (23 Main St.) Parents are encouraged to come to the meeting to discuss their concerns and to learn what the town is planning to do to deal with the overcrowding and health related issues in many of the schools.

Breakheart Cleanup and BBQ Saturday, July 15th Cleanup: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. BBQ: 12:00-1:00 p.m. Help us keep this beautiful 700 acre reservation clean and have some fun at the same time at a traditional BBQ. This program is free of charge compliments of the generous support by the Friends of Breakheart Reservation who will be providing food and logistical support. The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is a co-sponsor. We will provide tools, please wear clothes and shoes you aren't particularly fond of!

Bob Sacco, featured cartoonist in "A Gathering of Memories", the upcoming "Time and the River", and other places will be doing a program on his skills as a cartoonist.

Children listen to stories and make a craft with Joyce Rodenhiser of the Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment (S.A.V.E.) and special guest Marybeth Maes plays guitar and sings with the kids! Be sure to stop by for this free event!

We're going buggy! Learn about insects with the silliest teacher of all -- Miss Frizzle! This is a free event, sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Saugus Cultural Council, and is open to all kids & their families.

Join us for an evening of free family fun at Breakheart featuring the movie "Finding Nemo" This film will be shown inside the visitor center so there is no need to worry about rain cancelling our show as it does at some other free movie locations. The event is free, but a nonperishable food item for our ongoing food drive would be greatly appreciated.

massachusetts department of conservation and recreation to offer adaptive hiking at breakheart reservation in saugus The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will offer adaptive hiking for individuals with disabilities, their families and friends at Breakheart Reservation located off Forest Street in Saugus, MA on Saturday, July 29th. Assistive equipment and teamwork will help people of all abilities access conventional hiking trails at a leisurely pace. DCR Park Ranger Matthew Nash will be providing nature lessons along the trail as we stop to rest. Adaptive equipment includes Terra Trek manual wheelchairs, baby joggers, walkers, crutches, and gait belts, as well as staff instruction, will be provided to help people of all abilities enjoy hiking in a safe environment. This activity is open to individuals with disabilities, their families and friends for $2 per person, $4 for families or $10 for groups. Volunteers are also needed for this event. It is sponsored by DCR?s Universal Access Program (UAP) administered through Venture Into Well-Being, working together in an effort to expand accessible outdoor recreation opportunities. Along with hiking opportunities such as this, UAP also provides accessible boating, cycling, camping, horseback riding and bird watching programs in Massachusetts? state and urban parks throughout the summer and fall for individuals with disabilities, their family and friends. UAP strives to increase participation among persons with disabilities in outdoor recreational activities in integrated settings. Please call ahead for times and for pre-registration.
