Saugus Town Meeting highlights include the passing of an article that alters some appropriations for the current fiscal year (moving money from accounts that did not use it to accounts that need it) and the passing of an article that will place a question relating to whether or not Saugus will adopt the Commonwealth's Community Preservation Act on the ballot in the fall.

Highlights of the Annual Saugus Town Meeting last night include the passing of articles to fund the Police Incentive Compensation program, the Northeast Regional Metropolitan School fees, the initial steps for building a skateboard park, the initial steps for devising and implementing a town wide technology plan, and the building of a traffic island at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Winter Street. An article to create a new by-law concerning "dangerous or vicious dogs" was also passed.

There is not too much to mention in terms of highlights of the Annual Saugus Town Meeting last night; much of the evening was spent debating the Finance Committee's budget after an amendment was proposed to add in an "energy relief fund" with the real intent of providing extra money to the schools. In the end it did not pass, but failed with a tie vote, and a member moved to reconsider. A meeting between the Finance Committee and Town Manager will occur before Town Meeting resumes and the reconsideration takes place.
