Congregation Ahavas Sholom Sisterhood, Saugus, is having a flea market on Sunday, June 5 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. & 3:00 p.m.

The final Ochmoneks performance will be held on this Sunday at O'Brien's in Allston. This is a 21+ show, and it would be very nice to see everyone there. Perhaps can become more of a celebration than a collection of elegies. I know it will certainly be that way to me, and I want to invite all of you to come. To everyone who has ever gone to a show, suffered through crappy opening bands (and crappy incarnations of this band), bought a CD, taken pictures, filmed us, played with us, and, most importantly, listened, we would like to thank you wholeheartedly. Tours on the house from 11am-4pm An opportunity to see inside this c. 1687 house built for the young family of William Boardman, a local joiner, this house has survived remarkably intact since its construction. Interesting features that were discovered include a wall of original 17th century oak clapboards that are visible from the lean-to attic, ceilings on the upper floor that were never plastered, and a portion of skirt board that once finished the rear wall of the house. With the exception of minor structural stabilization and repairs, the house has since gone unaltered, providing a great opportunity to view 17th and 18th century construction techniques and finishes.

The City of Cambridge will hold a ceremony to honor the United States Army on the occasion of its 230th birthday, at its birthplace on Cambridge Common. The ceremony, including pre- and post-ceremony events, will provide the public and nation with a historical perspective of the past, present and future of the United States Army, and will honor the service of our veterans both past and current. ? Starting at 9:00 AM, members of the Lexington Minutemen will reenact the militia encampment that occurred on Cambridge Common following the Battles of Lexington and Concord in 1775 and leading up to the Battle of Bunker Hill. ? Static displays from the Massachusetts Army National Guard, the 94th Regional Readiness Command, and Natick?s US Army Soldier Systems Center will give a snapshot of the present and future of the Army, thus completing the historiography. ? Visitors may see Washington?s headquarters in Cambridge at the Longfellow National Historic Site. ? Visitors will get a audio-visual display at the US Army?s Cinema Van ? At 11:00 AM, there will be demonstrations by the US Army Drill Team, the Continental Fife & Drums, and the Continental Color Guard ? At 11:30 AM, there will be performances by the 94th Regional Readiness Command Band ? At 11:50 AM, there will be a demonstration by the US Army's Silver Wings parachute team who will jump in with a flag and present it to the Mayor of the city. Governor's Remarks and Reading of Governor's Proclamation ? Mayor's Remarks and Introduction of Guest Speaker ? Guest Speaker's Remarks (Hon. USA) ?Wreath Laying at the Washington Monument where Washington took command of the Continental Army (Military District of Washington Wreath Layer, Mayor and Hon. USA) ? Taps (City of Cambridge Bugler) ? Army Song (94th Regional Readiness Band) ? Signing of a Partnership for Youth Success agreement between the Army and the City of Cambridge ? Congregation Aahavas Sholom, Central Street, Saugus will be holding a Friday night service on June 17, 2005 commencing at 8:00 p.m. Prior to the service there will be a congregation meeting, starting at 7:00 p.m. to which all members are invited to attend.

This is the annual yard sale being held in conjunction with the Saugus Historical Society's Strawberry Festival. Inside the First Parish Church you'll be able to get strawberry shortcake and other treats; outside in the church grounds you'll be able to browse through dozens of yard sale tables. The Saugus Garden Club will have some floral fun for ages 5 to 10 at the Saugus Historical Society House. Kids will be able to make take-home flower arrangements with help from the Garden Club members. At the same time, the Saugus Historical Society will have an open house featuring self-guided walking tours for the adults.

A vintage 1905 fair including: Roving Entertainers, Children's Games, Baked Goods, White Elephant Sale, Book Table, Plant Table, Free Tours of the Historic Hale House, and so much more!

The annual Saugus Historical Society Strawberry Festival will feature strawberry shortcakes for just $3 each in the hall of the First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church. There will also be hot dogs, drinks, and other snacks available at reasonable prices.

Do you wish you could get more of the great shortcake, crafts and entertainment that you enjoyed at yesterday's Saugus Historical Society Strawberry Festival? The fun continues on Sunday with our first annual collaborative Strawberry Festival at Breakheart. Join us for a day of 19th Century re-enactments, craft and flea market tables, music, food, a baloon sculpturist and magician and a guided family oriented hike. Strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream will be available for $3.00 a serving as well as hot dogs, sodas and popcorn at reasonable prices. All proceeds benefit the Saugus Historical Society and the Friends of Breakheart Reservation.

As part of our Strawberry Festival afternoon, Quintessential Brass, a widely known brass quintet, will present a two hour concert on the lawn. Bring blankets for seating.

The Class of 1945 had such a great time at our 55th reunion; we decided to do it all over again. We will celebrate our 60th Class Reunion with a Luncheon at the Continental Restaurant, Rte. 1, Saugus, on Friday, June 24, 2005 from 12 noon to 5PM. The cost will be $25.00 per person. Full details, with reservation forms, will be going out, inviting all classmates, friends and relatives to join us. We are planning to regroup on Saturday morning at the New Lodge, Visitor Center at Breakheart Reservation. Any other suggestions to add to the celebration are welcome, with thanks from the committee.
