Be sure to check out our second feature: Saugus By-Laws. We've been working on this one for quite some time now; dedicated explorers have perhaps already seen it in a work-in-progress state. It is still being checked for errors, but should now be in a useful state. Note that there will be more changes made to it to both keep it up-to-date and to make it easier to use. There will probably be no more changes made to it though now until after the current Town Meeting.

While externally it might seem that we've been pretty quiet lately, internally we've been busily working on our next feature. Expect its formal launch by early next week.

Some highlights of the Town Meeting involved the unanimous passing of articles that establish revolving funds for maintaining Vitale Memorial Park, closing the landfill, and enforcing the Wetland Protection Act; the unanimous approval of articles that will start a series of improvements to the water and sewer systems in town; and the almost unanimous (one vote against) passing of an article that will enable the Selectmen to auction off up to thirty-three small scattered parcels of land with the proceeds to go toward the purchase of Vinegar Hill. The biggest controversy of the night concerned the establishment of revolving funds for the new Senior Center. The first, to re-authorize the revolving fund for the Senior Lunch Program, passed but was opposed by two Town Meeting Members. The second, to establish a new revolving fund for an elderly day care program met with more resistance due to concerns that its cost estimates were inaccurate. It passed with six members voting against. Town Meeting will continue on June 1st.

Welcome to Saugus.net, the home page for the Town of Saugus, Massachusetts! This page will serve as a repository of all manner of material, from up-to-date area public transportation information to a huge glossary of computer terms to assist novice computer users. Within the next few weeks the items to the left will be loaded with useful content (some is already there), and we're presently working on a community calendar page. This page should quickly become the definitive guide to the Saugus area, and it will be freely accessable to everyone.
Be sure to check out our first feature: Saugus Post Cards.
Remember too that Town Meeting starts tonight. Of course, Saugus.net will be there.
