We've now started to post the winners in our second annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. We'll be continuing to post them throughout the night, category by category. Generally speaking, it was more competitive this year than last. While we received no High School entries at all (just like last year) every other category saw a fairly large increase in number of entries. Where the Adult category was somewhat competitive last year, it was extremely competitive this year. Our judges had a great deal of difficulty in selecting just the top three stories.

As noted in the Community Events Calendar, the deadline for the Halloween Ghost Story Contest is midnight tonight and the deadline for candidates to answer the Questions to the Candidates is noon on Monday.
Just like last year, the winning Halloween Ghost Stories will be posted live on Halloween night. We'll start with the youngest age category and work our way up through the winning stories to the first place adult entry.

Just a reminder that the deadlines for both the second annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest and the chance for candidates to answer the Questions to the Candidates are coming up soon. This Friday is the final day we'll accept entries for the Halloween Contest, and the final day we'll post candidate's responses is November 1st, the day before the elections.
When you submit a story, please remember to both tell us in which category you belong and provide us with a means of contacting you so that we'll be able to get you your glow-in-the-dark T-shirt should you win.
When you submit a candidate response, please keep the word count limitations in mind.

We've added a Lost & Found page. Items both lost and found can be freely posted on it. Its permanent location will be on the Miscellaneous Info page.

The deadline for our second annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest is just one week away. As it was last year, the "Adult" category is shaping up to be the most competitive with by far the most entries. The least competitive category right now is "High School"; we haven't received a single high school entry yet!
Updates continue in the Questions to the Candidates section. If you're a candidate making an entry, please remember the word count limitations -- they ensure fairness and we take them seriously. Entries that are too long will be truncated. Likewise, the easier it is for us to contact you and verify your entry, the more quickly your entry will get online.

We were asked to announce a couple of things today. The first is from Cathy Langone, who observes:
On October 3, the cheerleaders for pop warner traveled to Beverly High School for the North Shore Cheerleading competition. Our four squads competed against the eight other cities that represent the North Shore in Pop Warner they include: Beverly, Everett, East Lynn, West Lynn, Triton, Swampscott, Salem and Peabody.
The competition is an all day event that all our girls have been preparing for since the beginning of August. These girls ranging in age from 7 to 14 devote 3 to 4 nights of practice a week working on their routine, and side line cheers for the football games.
All the girls deserve a round of applause for a job well done.
Congratulations to the 'C' team for placing 3rd and our 'D' team for placing 2nd!
Both the 'C' and 'D' squads will now move on to the second round of competition which will take place on Nov 7. at the Paul Tsongas Center in Lowell.
For all the coaches who dedicate their time and effort to our girls a big Thank You! You all have done a great job, all our squads looked great and made me feel very proud to be from Saugus.
Congratulations again and Good Luck to the 'C' and 'D' teams at their next meet.
Saugus Sachems Are Stars! Yeah!
The second is from the Friends of Breakheart Reservation who'd like to remind everyone of the free Fall Festival this Saturday. Details can be found on the Community Events Calendar.
