The seventh annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest winning entries have now all been posted. This year featured a couple of winners from North Carolina plus our first ever winner to enter from overseas. Plus, in a curious coincidence picked up by one of our judges, two separate winning stories mention places called "Caledonia". It's truly a small world. Congratulations to all the winners; we'll be trying to contact you all soon.
We've now started to post the winners in our seventh annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. We'll be continuing to post them throughout the night, category by category. While this year's contest featured slightly fewer entries than last year's, all the judges agreed that there was an overall increase in quality making picking winners extremely difficult. This was also the first year that we had a significant number of entries from outside the United States.

The Friends of Breakheart Reservation asked us to post the following:
Winter is approaching, and no one should have to go without such a basic necessity as a coat! The Friends of Breakheart Reservation are collecting clean, reusable coats and jackets to assist the One Warm Coat community service effort. Coats of all shapes sizes are welcome. One Warm Coat is dedicated to distributing reusable coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The program is a wonderful way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets that you no longer need.
The Friends of Breakheart Reservation have made donating a coat simple. Just bring your clean, reusable coats and jackets to The Christopher P. Dunne Visitor Center at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus between 9 am and 5 pm during November. The Friends of Breakheart Reservation will take care of the rest. All donated coats will be given to Rosie?s Place and St. Francis House for distribution to the community in need.
"We are thrilled that so many people across the country have received coats to help them stay warm. It?s such a simple and easy way to show you care for people in need." says Lois Pavlow, founder of OWC.
One Warm Coat is a community service effort assisting in the collection of clean, reusable coats and jackets for donation to local individuals free of charge. Since its inception in 1992, more than 150,000 coats have been provided to those in need at no cost.

This is just a final reminder that tonight is the deadline for submitting an entry for the annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. We'll be taking entries up through 11:59:59 PM EST (or more accurately EDT for nitpickers) tonight. Any entries received tomorrow morning will have to wait for next year's contest.
If Teresa Konopka from Staten Island who mailed a story entry to us by U.S. Mail happens to be reading this, we got your entry, but you didn't specify an age category or any other means besides the U.S. Mail to get back to you (and by the time we send you a letter and get a response it would be too late). If you can get in touch with us ASAP and let us know your age category, we'll see that your story gets to the appropriate judges.

Tomorrow is the final day to submit an entry for the annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. For each entry that we receive via e-mail or FAX, we try to e-mail back a response indicating that it arrived (assuming we have been given a valid e-mail address). If you've sent us an entry and have not yet heard back, please let us know right away.

This is just a reminder that when you enter this year's Halloween Ghost Story Contest, don't forget to mention your age category and provide us some means (preferably e-mail) of getting in touch with you should we have any questions. We try to acknowledge all entries within a couple of business days (although we can sometimes fall a little behind when a bunch arrive within a short period). Definitely though if you send in an entry and don't hear back from us within a few business days please write us; we don't want anyone's entry to get lost in the æther.
