We've now started to post the winners in our tenth annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest. We'll be continuing to post them throughout the night, category by category.

The Halloween Ghost Story Writing Contest deadline has come and gone. The judges are busily reading the contest entries now, and we'll (as usual) be posting the winning stories live on Halloween night. In the meanwhile, you can get in the spirit by reading some past years' winning ghost stories.

This is the final day we're accepting entries for this year's Ghost Story Writing Contest. We'll be accepting stories up until midnight. At this stage we're also fully caught up with acknowledging entries; if you submitted one (along with a valid e-mail address) and have not gotten an e-mail back from us, please try and contact us right away.

Tomorrow is the final day we're accepting entries for this year's Halloween Story Writing Contest. If you're planning on getting a story in to us for this year, your time is almost up.

As we've done with past Saugus elections, we've set up a "Questions to the Candidates" section where all the candidates for positions in town (not just candidates for Selectman or School Committee) can answer an assortment of questions you sent us (via e-mail, FAX, or in person at Founders' Day). As always, candidate participation is voluntary, and candidates will probably continue to submit responses until just prior to the election itself.

The deadline for this year's Halloween Ghost Story Writing Contest is now just one week away, so if you can only write on the weekends, this is your last weekend for writing.

The local business Diamond's Catering had its site updated recently.

We're still catching up on acknowledging entries for this year's Halloween Story Writing Contest. We should be fully caught up within a couple of days, so if you submitted a story, watch your e-mail for a message from us saying we got it. We respond to every entry that had a valid e-mail address sent with it.

The Friends of Breakheart Reservation site was updated today.

Please remember to include your appropriate age category (adult, high school, middle school, or elementary school) when you submit your entry for this year's Ghost Story Writing Contest. We've already gotten lots of entries that we cannot yet categorize. Remember too that the age category refers to the age of the author, not the age of the target audience. It's used so that elementary school children don't have to compete directly against adult authors.

Readers might be intrigued to learn that the Information Sciences Institute has made a full map of the Internet. Note that this is a full map of the entire Internet and not just the Web (the latter is just a small subset of the former). Saugus.net was originally established with a block of 64 addresses in the area labeled "u.s. various" in the upper right just below the "multicast" region. These days we're a little further to the left and a row down in the block labeled "north america" near the larger areas labeled "asia-pacific". It's likely that we'll move again in the future.

Please join us in congratulating Saugus.net founder Eric Brown and his wife Nhung on the birth of their new daughter. Little Rhianon Brown was born around 10:30 PM yesterday and weighed in at 6 pounds 9 ounces.

The office will be closed today for the holiday. However, the Community Events Calendar, the Area Yard Sales Calendar, Saugus Forums, and other like pages will continue to be updated.
