In 1988, President Ronald Reagan named October National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month (proclamation), as a way to remember the almost 1,000,000 babies who die each year due to pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and early infant death. In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we will gather for our second Walk to Remember and memorial service to celebrate the children who were with us briefly, but who touched our lives forever. We invite you to join and support the families and friends whose lives have been impacted by the loss of a baby. The Walk will be held at Breakheart Reservation (directions) in Saugus, MA on September 30th, 2006 Registration: Registration will include participation in the walk, a t-shirt, memorial program, awareness ribbon and a keepsake. Proceeds are used to pay for the T-shirts and the remaining monies are donated to S.H.A.R.E. a group that supports those with early infant loss. Memorial Service: Breakheart has selected a flowering crabapple tree in memory of our babies. At morning registration, you will have the opportunity to write a message to your child. During the Memorial Service, the names of the babies will be read aloud. Walk: You are invited to walk all or part of the 1.9 mile trail.
