This is just a reminder that the annual Topsfield Fair is starting tonight. A few Saugus companies and organizations participate in it regularly (like Sullivan's Old Fashioned Cider and the Kowloon Restaurant; if you know of more please let us know). This is an event that incorporates all of Essex County (and even a bit beyond), not just Saugus, and has quite a long history. More information has been posted in the calendar.

The Saugus Board of Assessors asked us to post the following:

The Department of Revenue requires that every community re-inspect all real estate periodically. The state suggests reviewing a portion of properties every year rather than having a huge expense for all inspections in one year's budget. As a result, the Saugus Board of Assessors inspects a portion of its properties every year. In addition to meeting state requirements, the objective of this project is to assure the accuracy of our assessing data. These inspections are done on an ongoing basis.

Our Data Collector will go to different streets and inspect both the interior and exterior of the property. The person will have Town Indentification with his photograph on it and will not inspect the interior of the property unless a person 18 or older is present. If no one is available for the interior inspection, a notice will be left requesting that you call the Assessors' Office at 781-231-4130 to have an appointment set up to view the property.

The Board of Assessors urges the public to be cooperative with the inspector and understand that by assuring the accuracy of assessing information, the Town will ensure that every homeowner pays only his or her fair share in taxes.

The details of this year's Saugus Founders' Day Trivia Contest have now been posted. As usual, be sure to check them out before coming to Founders' Day; while some are easy to answer at Founders' Day, the answers to others are much easier to obtain online.

Tomorrow is Saugus Founders' Day and Saugus.net will be in our usual spot on the Town Hall lawn, so drop by if you have any questions, comments, or other feedback, or would just like to take part in our annual trivia contest (as usual we'll be posting the questions a little bit in advance online here) or learn more about this year's Ghost Story Contest. A few yard sales have already been posted; if you're holding one, you should post it tonight in order for it to be listed in time for tomorrow.

We have posted more information about Saugus Founders' Day that we just received today from the Founders' Day Committee.
