Saugus.net was established in early 1998 and incorporated on May 1^st of that year as an independent not-for-profit entity; it was a time before there was much online about Saugus.

Saugus.net has been involved in many different projects. It took over the ShellTown shell Internet access business that had been originally been a part of TIAC (by way of PSInet and Inter.net), Newton's Library (originally hosted in Sweden), and its help to the Town of Saugus, but is probably best known for either its annual Halloween Ghost Story Contest or Computer Reference Knowledgebase.
